Why Work as a Live-In Carer?

YOU CAN make a difference by helping elderly and disabled people to live a fuller independent life in their own home.

What does the job involve?	• Some of our clients need minimal assistance with personal care; others need total help with getting up, washing and dressing etc. • Shopping • Cleaning • Companionship • You will live with the client for at least a week at a time. Actual shift patterns by agreement • You will be provided with your own bedroom and food and drinks • You will work up to 10 hours of unmeasured work per day • You will get a 2 hour break per day at a time to be agreed with the client
Do I get regular clients?	• Yes, we try where possible, and ensure you look after the same clients regularly
I haven’t got any care experience, does that make a difference?	• No, experience helps but as long as you have a caring nature, we will give you all the training you need
What training will I be given?	• We will give you induction training, which will be some classroom work and shadowing an experienced carer • We also provide in house NVQ training
I am very experienced; do I still need to do the training?	• Yes you do, even though you have experience you need to be familiar with company policies and procedures and the latest legislation regarding home care
What will I be paid?	• A generous pay rate, dependant upon the complexity of the care package and your level of experience
When will I be paid?	• You will be paid every 2 weeks, which is paid directly into your bank account
If I have any problems what should I do?	• Whatever the problem you should contact the office or out of office hours the on-call manager. There will always be somebody at the end of the phone to help you
